  • good morning! thank you so much for thinking about me, and praying for me and for greta too. i heard from the doc yesterday that she was taking the puppy into emergency surgery. i didn't expect that at her weight and in the condition she was in that she would make it at all. but, she did! they did a barium x-ray to see where things are and nothing was passing from the stomach into the intestines. they had suspected a blockage, or telescoped bowel, but the problem seems to lie in the stomach itself. while in there, the doc spayed her, so that is done also. her blood pressure dropped during surgery, and her temperature went down to 95 degrees, at least 5 degrees below normal. but, she pulled through. the intestines were fairly clear. they opened her stomach and drained out infection and pus and put her on an i.v. she has no body fat to keep her warm. last night, the doc said that her tail was thumping, and she was actually barking! aside from moaning and burping, i haven't heard her make a sound all week. this morning the other dr. called to say that she was up, moving around, and wanting to eat. they are only feeding her tiny bits, spaced out, and an ulcerative colitis diet. if she can keep it down it will mean that by tomorrow she will be on the mend. so, pray for her tummy! once she can eat and things move through normally, she can come to her new home! Yay! that could be as early as tuesday! still not sure how i'll pull this off, but god placed this in my lap soundly, so i have to do it and trust that it will work out somehow.
thank you so much for caring! i hope i can send out another picture of her soon! just updated my blog too. now, i have to get going on routine stuff here. give yer girlies a hug fer me, k?

  • Thanks for your comments - Have a great weekend too...Mike

  • YES! your prayers are working and are so very much appreciated! greta is doing much better, though she had a little setback with diarrhea again this morning. she is eating and up and alert. i left work early today to be with her for a couple of hours before the clinic closed. she looks like some kind of prehistoric animal with her spine sticking out and her humped up back and the ribs only covered by skin. it's so cold here now that i am going to have to wrap her up well to get her home. i bought a little pink sweater, collar and leash for her off the clearance table at petco. i made her a little heart shaped name tag too. i so wanted to bring her home today with me, but i'll have to wait til tomorrow if she is doing okay with eating and drinking. i have one of my grooming kennels set up for her so that she will be in a warm room during the day. she will be able to hear the other dogs, but not be immediately with them. her body is so stressed right now, i don't want to add anything suddenly. we'll introduce the other dogs slowly. she tested negative for worms and other parasites as well as 2 days in a row negative for parvo, so i got to hold her today without a gown and gloves.
keep up the prayers...she is a little fighter!
